The job

We are currently seeking a skilled Bar Manager to join our team at MR PORTER Amsterdam. As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for providing our guests with an exceptional dining experience. This role requires an individual who is passionate about cocktails, hospitality, attentive to detail, and possesses excellent communication skills. All our employees work together to provide outstanding, authentic service and experience for every guest. To realize this, we are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the bar, ensuring smooth and efficient service

• Lead, schedule, and supervise the bar team, fostering a positive and professional working environment

• Deliver an excellent guest experience by maintaining high service and presentation standards

• Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations

• Ensure the highest standards of service and presentation are maintained at all times

• Collaborate closely with management and other departments to support overall business objectives

Requirements

• Experience: Proven experience as a Bar Manager or Senior Bartender in a high-volume or premium hospitality environment.

• Knowledge of alcoholic beverages: The Bar Manager should have a deep understanding of different types of alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and glassware, as well as how to properly prepare and serve various types of drinks.

• Strong customer service skills: The Bar Manager must be friendly, personable, and able to engage with guests in a positive and professional manner.

• Ability to work under pressure: You must be able to work efficiently and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

• Good communication skills: You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with guets, other staff members, and management.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills: Ability to lead by example, create a positive team culture, and ensure clear communication and accountability within the bar team.

• Ability to train, motivate, and supervise bar staff: Responsible for onboarding new team members, providing ongoing training and coaching, motivating staff to perform at their best, and supervising daily operations to ensure service standards are consistently met.
