The Duchess Amsterdam is a stylish and sophisticated restaurant located in the heart of the city. THE DUCHESS opened in June 2015 in Amsterdam’s historical KAS Bank building and was awarded a Michelin star in 2018. Its stunning interior is inspired by the Belle Époque era. Our restaurant cuisine can be described as nouveau-niçoise cuisine, a culmination of flavors from Southern France and Italy.

The Job

For our Michelin Star restaurant, we are looking for some new “shining stars” who will make sure that our guests will have an amazing experience. A warm smile and a friendly conversation go a long way in making someone feel welcomed and our THE DUCHESS team ensures a great and lasting impression about they overall experience.

As a Head Waiter/Waitress, your are responsible for the efficient and friendly manner of serving our guests and ensuring that our guests are experiencing an incredible time. Our THE DUCHESS Head Waiter is aware of all the guests' requests and you make sure that each request is being handled promptly and effectively. You oversee all the sections in the restaurant and are able to make sure all our guests are being served with high quality.

Ultimately, you'll ensure that we provide excellent guest service and a pleasant dining experience to our guests, always with a smile. For this role, you should be people skilled and motivated to make sure our guests have an unforgettable dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure. The ideally candidate for this role has excellent communication skills, a passion for hospitality and thrive in a team based environment.

Responsibilities

• Be able to lead by example to ensure your high standards filter through the floor team

• Be fully responsible for assisting in the smooth running of the restaurant, staff management and training along with ordering and stock control

• Report to the Assistant General Manager

• Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about the shared-dining concept, ingredients or potential food allergies)

• Offer menu recommendations upon request

• Coordinate the communication between the floor and the kitchen team

• Coordinate the table settings

• Positive attitude and aim to provide great communication skills
  
  Requirements

• Previous experience as a Head Waiter/Waitress in a fine-dining restaurant is preferred

• Strong team player

• A strong desire to develop a career in high-end restaurants

• Attentiveness and patience for guests

• Aim to deliver excellent presentation skills

• Organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment

• Active listening and effective communication skills

• Team spirit

• Flexibility to work in shifts

• Fluent speaking and writing in English

• You live in Amsterdam (or nearby)
